Visit and Queue Information

Number of visits: First time
Visit date: June 2025, weekdays
Visit time: Around 11:15
Line: About 15 people, waiting time about 20 minutes
Seat: Counter seat as there is only one person

It's a popular restaurant, so there's bound to be a line.

I wanted to arrive before the store opened at 11:00, but I overslept and ended up visiting right after the store opened.

This is the timing when the first round has the longest wait time, as they eat and wait for someone to become available, but even so, the wait time was relatively short at about 20 minutes.

The food is basically raw, so it doesn't take long to cook, and if a counter seat becomes available, that person will be served first, even if there are two people in front of them, so the counter seats have a good turnover rate.

Since there are many overseas customers who eat relatively slowly, I think the turnover rate will be a little lower when it comes to table seating.

This time I visited on a weekday, but the line is expected to be even longer on Saturdays.

Ordering and Payment

Ordering method: Meal ticket system

Menu

Lunch is basically sesame mackerel bowl or fatty mackerel bowl with other side dishes, drinks and alcohol.

There seems to be one more item on the menu at night.

Toro Saba-don Teishoku (Fatty Mackerel Rice Bowl Set)

This time, there was a large pop-up on the ticket machine that said, ``Toro mackerel bowl set meal (1,600 yen)” was selected.

Although the menu name only says fatty mackerel, it is served as sesame mackerel.

In other words, it's the difference between regular mackerel and fatty mackerel.

The composition is fatty mackerel, rice, and miso soup.

Nanbanzuke mackerel and pickles are self-serve.

Let's get it then.

Toro Saba (Fatty Mackerel)

Recommended ways to eat are listed, so follow them.

First, let's have fatty mackerel as sashimi.

There is no smell of mackerel, and you can feel the flavor and aroma of mackerel.

And since it's melty, you can feel the fat as well.

Toro Saba + Gohan (Fatty Mackerel + Rice)

Next, we will have it with rice.

Since the rice is warm, that temperature is transferred to the mackerel, allowing you to taste the fat more.

It is common for odors to become noticeable as the temperature rises, but this mackerel did not have any odor even when it was warm.

One refill of rice is free.

Saba no Nanbanzuke (Vinegar-Marinated Mackerel)

As I wrote above, this is an unlimited service.

You can taste the taste of the mackerel and the fat of the batter, but the sweet and sour seasoning of the nanbanzuke makes it refreshing.

You can also take as many vegetables as you like, and I think they go particularly well with paprika.

It's amazing that you can have as many dishes as you like that would normally be a main side dish. .

Ochazuke (Rice with Tea)

The soup stock is self-service, and you can also enjoy Ochazuke at the end.

The mackerel is also cooked, so you can feel the fat even more.

The soup stock itself is made from bonito stock, and it doesn't have any odor, so I think it's a flavor that will appeal to everyone.

Miso Shiru (Miso Soup)

I forgot to take a photo of it alone, but the miso soup was made with clam stock.

I drank a lot of whiskey yesterday, so the freshwater clam extract permeates my body and liver.

Impressions and Rating

The fatty mackerel was delicious.

Even as a mackerel lover, I was satisfied with this dish, as I could feel the aroma, taste, and fat without any odor.

I wasn't able to compare the tastes of fatty mackerel and regular sesame mackerel, so that's my homework for next time.

『Toro mackerel bowl set meal (1,600 yen)” and “Sesame Mackerel Bowl Set Meal (1,200 yen)'' The difference in price is 400 yen, so I'm curious how much the difference is.

It's just delicious, but to be honest, there are many izakaya menus for gomasaba, so you can also eat it at restaurants other than here.

And if you go to a decent restaurant in Fukuoka, I think you'll be able to find some delicious sesame mackerel.

So, I'm not sure if I would recommend visiting this restaurant just for sesame mackerel and having it for lunch or dinner. .

Because if you eat sesame mackerel as a set meal, you can only eat one dish, but if you eat it as one of the many snacks at an izakaya, you can eat a variety of foods from Fukuoka and Hakata. .

Delicious is delicious, so if you are interested, please visit.

Overall: ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆ (6/10)
