1st bottle: Dewar's 12 years old
This was my first purchase since it was a new bottle, or rather, I was on Amazon's regular delivery service and forgot to turn it off, so I ended up purchasing it unintentionally. .
I tried it right away, but honestly I preferred the old bottle (pictured on the right).
Many stores have replaced the new bottles, but you may still see the old bottles, so if you don't have the old bottles and you see them, we recommend you buy them and try them out.
2nd one: Monkey shoulder
I still have quite a few bottles left, but I was also using Amazon's regular shipping service, and I forgot to stop, so I ended up purchasing one without intending to. .
Well, it's delicious, so it's okay.
Will it happen in the future? It was announced that there will be changes to the bottle and label.
Rumor has it that the contents will not change, but what will happen?
I think it will become a hot topic if the taste changes, so I will buy it and give it a try.
3rd bottle: Glen Keith 1998 22 Years Bourbon Cask for THE BRITISH FAIR in KOBE 2024
This bottle was distilled in Glen Keith in 1998 and aged for 22 years in bourbon casks.
This bottle was released by Shinanoya for the British exhibition held at Kobe Hankyu in April 2024.
Glen Keith's production was suspended in 1999 and restarted in 2013, so this is the original sake from before the suspension.
As for the taste, you can clearly feel the green apple and it is very delicious.
I failed to pre-order at Shinanoya, but I happened to see it at the store and was able to purchase it.
I think it will be difficult to obtain from now on, but if you see it at a bar, please give it a try.
4th: GM Tormore 1998
This bottle has become a hot topic.
Distilled in Tormore in 1998, this bottle is aged for 25 years in first-fill bourbon barrels.
It's extremely fruity, and I think it has a taste reminiscent of 96 Ben Nevis.
I think it will be difficult to obtain from now on, but if you see it at a bar, please give it a try.
5th: Secret Roland 2013 9 2nd Phil Oloroso Hogshead
It's from the Trickster series released by Rudder, and it's labeled as Secret Roland, but the contents are actually Glenkinchie.
This bottle was distilled in 2013 and aged for 9 years in 2nd fill Oloroso Hogshead.
I sampled it during Whiskey Harbor Kobe in April, and it was delicious with a honey-like sweetness, so I pre-ordered it and was able to purchase it without any problems.
I think it will be difficult to purchase this from now on, but if you see it at a bar, please give it a try.
6th: The Taster Glenrothes 1992 30 Years Hogshead
This is Glenrothes from the Taster series released by Scotch Malt Sales.
It's distilled in 1992 and listed as a hogshead, but it's probably aged for 30 years in bourbon barrels.
The Taster series asks malt enthusiasts to taste and select barrels, and the selected barrels are released.
This time, Mr. Yoshimura from M’s Tasting Room in Itabashi was in charge of the tasting, and I went to M’s Tasting Room to taste it before purchasing.
At first it looked hard, but if you leave it on for about 10 minutes, you'll see some tropical elements come out.
1992 is also my birth year, and I want to buy at least one bottle of whiskey from my birth year every year, and I was able to get my hands on one this year as well.
Rather than just buying 1992 whiskey, I would like to buy whiskey that I have tried and thought is delicious.
I don't know how long I'll be able to continue doing it, because it's so popular that I can't buy it, and the price is getting more expensive year by year, more than 30 years ago in 1992, but I'm going to continue doing it as long as I can. .
Closing Thoughts
Although the number of bottles is small, there are many bottles that cost a lot of money per bottle, so I feel like the price was quite high. .
Since this year, to avoid overbuying, I've been trying to drink as much as possible and only buy if it tastes good.
Before I started this purchasing method, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to buy popular and popular bottles.
When you open the lid, you will be able to pre-order if you participate in an event.
Also, some PB (Private Bottle) and liquor stores will have a period where you can drink it in advance, such as putting it in the bar first and selling it to the general public a month later, so I thought it was surprisingly easy to buy.
The number of books I buy using this method is definitely decreasing.
However, the purchase price hasn't changed much because the bottles I drink and think are delicious end up costing a lot of money. .
In fact, it may be higher. .
I would like to continue participating in bars and events, drinking and buying things that I think are delicious.
