1st bottle: Busker Irish Blended Whiskey

Everyone loves Busker Midori (commonly known as).

It's fruity and delicious, but the fruitiness wears off a month or two after opening, so we recommend drinking it a little earlier.

2nd bottle: Teacher's Highland Cream

I think people can either like or dislike Teachers, but I personally didn't like it.

I don't like drinking it when it's freshly opened, so I left it for about a year and then tried it again and found it to be a delicious, peaty whiskey.

There was more than half left, but I was able to drink it all down quickly.

When I bought it, it cost less than 1,000 yen, but when I look at it now, I'm shocked to see that there are many places that cost more than 1,500 yen. .

3rd bottle: Johnnie Walker Black Label 12 years

Johnnie Walker Red Label was delicious when it was first opened, but the flavor lost its flavor over time. .

Black Label was delicious no matter what time of year it was, from when it was first opened until the bottom of the bottle.

I bought it about 2 years ago for about 2,500 yen, and you can still buy it for about 2,500 yen, so I think I'll buy it before the price goes up.

4th: Monkey shoulder

I think it's a stable one.

The previous bottle I drank had a cream cookie-like element in the latter half, but this one had a fruity impression from beginning to end.

Well, it's okay because both are delicious.

This also used to be available for less than 3,000 yen, but now it costs more than 3,300 yen. .

I think I'll buy another one before the price goes up any further.

5th bottle: Glen Cadam 10 years old

Personally, I think this is the most delicious one among the official ones.

If you drink it straight, you can feel the creamy barley taste.

And when you break it into a highball, you can see the green apple element, which shows the difference depending on how you drink it.

It's usually sold for around 5,000 yen per bottle, so if you can, get a bottle, or even if you can't find it sold by weight or at a bar, it's definitely worth drinking.

6th: Shinshu

This is a bottle sold only in Nagano Prefecture.

You can buy it anywhere in Nagano Prefecture, including supermarkets and convenience stores, and the price is around 1,500 yen for a full bottle, and mini bottles are also available, so I think it's perfect as a souvenir.

Rather than drinking it straight, this bottle is perfect as a drink with a meal, such as in a highball or with water.

If possible, I would like to pair it with Sanzoku-yaki, but since Sanzoku-yaki is not sold very often in Tokyo, I think it would be better to eat it with Nozawana or something similar to Nagano.

7th: Iwai Tradition

It has a sweet taste, and I think it would go well with a highball or water.

You can still buy one for around 2,500 yen, and in the past it would have been in the shadows because there were too many competing horses in this price range, but now that the prices of competing horses have risen across the board, I think it's one of the best.

Wine casks and sherry are popular, but the regular traditional ones are also delicious, so if you've never tried them before, please give them a try.

8th: Black Nikka Deep Blend

I think everyone will love this book.

It's delicious not only in a highball or mixed with water, but also with cola, so personally, when I eat Mac or KFC, I often choose a cola as a set and add this to the cola and eat it together.

As I said, it's perfect as a drink to accompany a meal, and it's also reasonably priced at around 1,500 yen, so it's a bottle I can highly recommend.

9th bottle: Miyagikyo Distillery Limited Blended Whiskey

This is a blended whiskey sold exclusively at Miyagikyo Distillery.

I can understand the fruitiness, but personally I didn't find it very appealing. .

The Yoichi Distillery limited edition was good, but this is one bottle that I wouldn't buy again even if I visited the distillery.

10th bottle: Pure malt red

This is a distillery limited sale and can only be purchased at Miyagikyo Distillery or Yoichi Distillery.

Pure Malt Red is based on Miyagi Gorge, and you can feel the fruitiness, but I personally didn't find it very appealing. .

The Yoichi-based pure malt black was delicious, though. .

I have one more bottle left in stock, so I'm going to see when the time is right and enjoy it.

11th: Miyagi Gorge

Personally, I didn't like the Miyagikyo Distillery Limited Blended Whiskey or Pure Malt Red, but I think Miyagikyo Distillery is generally delicious.

I think you can pick up apple-like fruitiness and vanilla elements.

I think it's worth buying if it's around 5,000 yen a bottle, but now that it's around 7,000 yen a bottle, I personally don't think I'll buy it, and it's hard to recommend it.

However, since it is Japan's representative whisky, there is no way to avoid it.

So, I think it would be better to try it out by weight or in mini bottles sold at the distillery, rather than tasting or just a single bottle.

12th: Yoichi

Yoichi is delicious with pear, peat, and saltiness.

However, I think this would be a good buy if it was around 5,000 yen a bottle, but now it costs around 7,000 yen a bottle, so personally I don't think I'll buy it next time. . I think so.

This is also one of Japan's most representative whiskies, so you can't avoid it, so if you've never tried it before, I'd like you to try it in some form, not just in a bottle.

13th: Nikka session

I think it's a bottle that can be enjoyed from various angles, with malty, fruity, and peat notes.

The price is around 3,500 yen to 4,000 yen, and if it's on sale or something like that, you can buy it for nearly 3,000 yen, so I think this is one that I can still recommend.

14th: Kakubin reprint edition

I finished drinking alcohol all the time.

It has a richer flavor than regular kakubin, and has a strong raisin flavor.

It goes well with highballs, water, and cola, so it's also great when eating Mac or KFC.

I still have some in stock, so I'm going to enjoy it.

15th: Yamazaki NV

I finished drinking Yamazaki NV.

The Quercus-like elements come out more in the second half than when you first open the bottle, so I think it's a good idea to take your time drinking it.

I'm glad I still have stock, but if I were asked to buy one for 7,000 yen, I wouldn't buy it. . That's my personal opinion.

It's one of Japan's most representative whiskies, so you can't avoid it, so if you've never tried it before, I recommend trying it in a mini bottle or some other form.

16th: Hakushu NV

I also finished Hakushu NV.

Even after opening the bottle, the second half doesn't seem to change much.

It has peat and fruity elements, making it a highball ingredient.

It's good that we still have stock, but if I were asked to buy one for 7,000 yen, I wouldn't buy it. . That's my personal opinion.

This is also one of Japan's most representative whiskies, and you can't avoid it, so if you've never tried it before, I recommend you give it a try in some form.

17th: Hibiki Japanese Harmony

Hibiki: I'm also drinking up Japanese Harmony.

My impression is that even after opening the bottle, the second half didn't change much.

It's delicious because you can enjoy the complex flavors that only a blended product can offer, but the price has been raised to 8,000 yen including tax, which makes it unaffordable. .

This is also one of Japan's most famous whiskies, but unlike Yamazaki and Hakushu, they don't sell mini bottles. .

Some izakaya restaurants also serve it, so if you've never had it before, I encourage you to try it in some form.

Closing Thoughts

I drank 17 bottles of whiskey between July and December in the second half of 2024.

In the second half of 2024, we purchased 24 bottles of whiskey, so if we calculate only for the second half, we have increased by 7 bottles. .

In the first half of the year, I purchased 50 bottles and finished 29, so that means an increase of 21 bottles.

In 2024, I purchased 74 bottles and drank 46 bottles, which means I increased my drinking by 28 bottles.

Stock is only increasing. .

It only covers whisky, but in addition to whisky, we also purchase rum and gin, so if we include these things, it would have increased a little more. .

As for the consumed bottles, it will go down faster if you split them into a highball than if you drink them straight, so I often drink the consumed bottles in highballs, which is the main focus of the official site.

Bottlers often drink straight, so it tends to wear off slowly, but I'm going to enjoy drinking it and consuming it.

Also, many of these bottles were purchased about a year or two ago, but when I looked at the current prices because the prices went up during that time, I realized once again that the prices had gone up quite a bit.

I think we can't help the price increase to some extent, but I think the options we can take are to buy while the prices are low, to be selective in our purchases, and to be honest, we have the option of not buying any more because they're expensive.

However, in order to support the whiskey industry, I would like to work hard to earn money and continue buying whisky, so that I can contribute in some small way to the industry.

In 2025, if possible, I would like to reduce the stock by increasing the number of bottles I consume rather than purchasing.

Once I finish drinking it again, I hope to be able to introduce it to you every six months or so.
