Malatang (Spicy Sichuan Hot Pot)

Choose your base soup and noodles (vermicelli, etc.), then add your favorite toppings.

When I added a kettle, it ended up being surprisingly expensive, about 2,200 yen...

There was a great value set menu with the ingredients pre-determined, so ordering this might have been the right thing to do...

The rice bowl arrived about 10 minutes after ordering.

So let's have it.

soup/noodles

This time, I chose spicy soup and thin vermicelli noodles.

I've been to this restaurant several times over the past five years, and at other restaurants you have to pay a few hundred yen more for medicinal soup, but this restaurant has medicinal soup by default, so it feels like a good deal.

The taste of the soup is a bit medicinal and salty, with a hint of spiciness from the chili peppers.

Even though it's very spicy,Mongolian Tanmen NakamotoIt's not as spicy as the North Pole.

Hanasho and Japanese pepper may cause some numbness, so those who don't like numbness may need to be careful.

The noodles have a unique chewy texture.

toppings

This time I put in a lot of ingredients.

Futama

Futama is an ingredient similar to fried wheat gluten.

The fat gives the soup its richness, and the futama absorbs the soup, making it taste delicious.

Ramu (Lamb)

Personally, the lamb is a must topping for Maratan (Spicy Numbing Soup).

Senmai

Personally, hormones are also a must-top.

There are some stores that don't have them these days...

crab stick

Crab sticks also go well with Maratan (Spicy Numbing Soup).

Wood ear mushrooms

Maratan (Spicy Numbing Soup) tends to have a fluffy texture and a lot of soft ingredients, so adding something with a crunchy texture will give it an accent.

Enoki

Mushrooms add texture and add flavor to soups.

white jellyfish

Mushrooms... (same sentence below)

fried egg

Adding a fried egg or other greasy ingredients will give the soup a richer flavor, so be sure to add just enough greasy ingredients to keep your stomach from feeling heavy.

Yuba

Chinese Yuba has a firm texture.

Impressions and Rating

『Sichuan spicy soup'The taste was normal.

Although it has a medicinal taste, I get the impression that the taste is somehow made with salt sauce, and it lacks umami.

This is my first time introducing it on my blog, but I've been visiting this restaurant for over 5 years, before Maratan (Spicy Numbing Soup) became popular.

Before the coronavirus, the food was quite delicious, but during the coronavirus, the owner focused on the delivery business, and the taste of the restaurant has deteriorated considerably...

It has picked up quite a bit since then, but I think it's still a long way from its previous peak taste.

I would like to observe it regularly, believing that one day it will get closer to its previous taste.

Summary

  • The strange-face signboard is a landmark
  • Completely cashless, nice to have PayPay
  • Cost performance is good if you organize around set menus.
  • It was delicious before the coronavirus...We are conducting regular observations with the belief that the taste will return to that same taste one day.
