1st bottle: Yoshida Denzai Distillery Grain Whiskey 1 year aged 1st

This is the 1st release aged for 1 year from Yoshida Denzai Distillery.

I was able to taste it before purchasing it, and I picked up a grainy and newborn plum flavor, as well as a charred barrel aroma and nutty nuances.

I'm from Niigata, so I recommend the distillery in Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture, and Shinko Distillery focuses on malt, but this one has the difference and characteristics of grain, which I think is interesting.

It's good to release it alone, and I think we can expect collaborations with other distilleries as a blended product in the future, so this is a distillery I'm keeping an eye on.

2nd: Bookers 2024

I was able to purchase Bookers 2024.

I happened to be visiting a certain camera store when I saw this and bought it.

Lately, I've been overcoming my dislike of bourbon, and I've been drinking and buying mainly premium bourbon and single barrels.

I would like to dig a little deeper into bourbon as well.

3rd bottle: The Vault Bowmore 2013 10 years Y’s cask

This is a bottle that was sold in advance and at a discount as part of the 7th anniversary project of Likaman Ginza 777 store.

I sampled it at the store, and the glassy, mint, and nutty flavors came first.

When I left it for a while, the fruity elements and sweetness came out, so I thought it would be delicious once I opened it, so I bought it.

The price is also quite low, and even if you look at other Bottler's releases from Bowmore's 10th year, it has become commonplace for them to cost close to or over 20,000 yen, but even though it was an anniversary sale price, I was able to purchase it for an exceptional price of 13,200 yen.

It may be difficult to purchase from now on, but if you see it somewhere, give it a try.

4th bottle: Shinanoya Secret Orkney 2010 13 Refill Sherry Bat

It's Secret Orkney, so it's Highland Park inside.

You can feel the heather honey and peat of Highland Park.

Also, since it is a refillable Oloroso Sherry, it has a nice sherry flavor that does not interfere with the original sake, making it delicious.

The price is also excellent, and I feel like I can buy this flavor for 11,000 yen.

I had been avoiding this label from Signatory for a while, but the coloring might be worth paying attention to.

5th bottle: Signatory Linkwood 12 Years Old 1st Fill Bourbon Barrel

This is a book released by Komaspi.

I drank it at a bar, and it had a linkwood-like feel of pine, green apple, banana, and wheat, and vanilla from the barrel.

Personally, I like short-ripened linkwoods that are around 10 years old, and this one really appealed to my tastes, so I bought it.

It is aged for 12 years and costs about 15,000 yen, so I think it is very cheap.

Short-ripening linkwood is fruity with a hint of sugar and is cheap, with many releases selling for around 1,000 yen per year.

And although there are a fair number of releases, and there are relatively many hits, there are of course some bottles that deviate from your taste.

Linkwood itself is not very popular, so you can usually drink it before you buy it.

As with this bottle, try Linkwood if you see it at a bar or event, and if you like it, buy it.

6th: ACORN Komagatake 2018-2024 6th year

This is a single cask from Komagatake commemorating Whiskey Plus' 10th anniversary.

I bought it because it had a nice white grape-like nuance.

7th bottle: Single Cask x Asaya Shoten Glen Elgin 2009 15 years

I also tried this at "Whiskey Lovers Nagoya 2025" and it was delicious, so I bought it.

I was glad that I had one that could really taste the green apple.

We look forward to future releases.

8th bottle: Whiskey Nagoya 2025 Saburomaru Boso Rum Cask Finish

This is a limited edition bottle for the Whiskey Lovers Nagoya 2025 event.

There was a preliminary lottery, and I was able to win and purchase it.

Saburomaru's blended whiskey is a rum cask aged in rum barrels from the Boso Oigura Distillery in Chiba Prefecture.

9th bottle: Whiskey Lovers Nagoya 2025 Togouchi Bourbon Barrel

This is a limited edition bottle for the Whiskey Lovers Nagoya 2025 event.

There was a preliminary lottery, and I was able to win and purchase it.

The subject of the preliminary lottery was the Japanese Saburomaru Blended Azaka. There are three in Togouchi.

Two of them were selected, showing off their good luck starting in the new year.

By the way, Saburomaru's Blended and Sakurao won last year as well, so we hope to see you again next year.

10th bottle: Tatsumi Distillery Tachibana Gin

It's not whiskey, it's gin.

This is a limited edition bottle for the Whiskey Lovers Nagoya 2025 event.

This time's botanical is citrus, so it's a citrus-based gin.

I think gin soda would go well with citrus fruits, so I'm going to enjoy drinking it.

Closing Thoughts

I've been blowing it away since the new year.

I excluded Booker's because I could taste it, but I was able to taste everything except the event bottle before purchasing, so I think I made a good purchase.

February is “Chichibu Whiskey Festival 2025” and attracts attention not only from Japan but also from overseas, so I think it's normal for each company to have a good release.
