Whiskey Talk Fukuoka
『Whiskey Talk Fukuoka' is literally a whiskey event held in Fukuoka around June every year.
This year it was held at Marine Messe Fukuoka B from 11:45 to 18:00.
By the way, on the same day, Masaharu Fukuyama's live performance was being held at Marine Messe Fukuoka A next door.
The bus bound for Marine Messe was a strange sight with Masaharu Fukuyama fans and whiskey lovers mixed together.
Participation fee
Last year, tickets were sold out near the opening date, but this year, due to the larger venue, tickets were not sold out.
There will be no tickets sold on the day, so advance tickets must be purchased.
I think it would be best to purchase it as soon as it is convenient for you to participate.

Now, I would like to introduce all the brands that I sampled this time.
1st cup: Rudder Hyakusei Fuma Asaka Single Malt 2018-2024 5 years

This is a rare bottle that has been aged in barrels that were made from a medicinal herbal liquor called Scarlet.
It was like drinking scarlet, with a medicinal, medicinal, bitter-sweet feel.
There wasn't much of a whiskey taste, just a barrel taste, and it gave me the impression that it was quite sharp.
I don't dislike these kinds of efforts, though.
2nd cup: Komagatake Single Cask 2020-2024 Oloroso Sherry Hogshead

It had persimmon, a hint of peat, and a nutty aftertaste, which I thought was reminiscent of Komagatake.
3rd cup: Igawa Distillery Newborn Non-peated Bourbon Barrel 3 years 4 months
Finally, the Igawa Distillery has unveiled an unblended sake that has been aged for over three years.
I got a sweet, plump, floral impression that reminded me of flowers.
I think it will probably be released as a single malt in 2024, but it had a promising taste.
4th glass: KFWS Single Malt Irish Whiskey 2002-2024
It's a fruity and delicious Irish drink without any harshness.
The only concern is that it costs around 50,000 yen. .
If it was about 10,000 yen cheaper, I would have bought it. .
5th cup: Shinanoya Dufftown 2009 2013
It has a refreshing grassy or herbal feel that reminds me of a forest, and also has a beast-like nuance.
6th cup: Shinanoya Chichibu 2014-2023 Heavy Peated Refill Barrel
There was peat, but it was a fruity Chichibu.
Personally, I like Chichibu to be fruity.
7th Cup: Zanzibar Secret Aira 13 Years 2008-2022

The contents are Ardbeg.
It gave me the impression that it was not a beautiful Gian, but a beautiful Ardbeg.
It's delicious, but it lacks the harshness of Ardbeg.
8th Cup: Zanzibar Secret Highland 13 Years 2007-2020

I think a lot of people get nervous when they hear Secret Highland's Clyne Riche, but this was a bottle where you could really feel the sherry.
But personally, I would like to drink Clynelish with bourbon. .
9th glass: The Old Pamana Rum 21 years THE PURPLE HAZE

It was tropical and extremely delicious, so I ordered it on the spot.
10th cup: Double Fantasy White Premium

It has a fruity flavor with banana as the main ingredient.
February's ``Chichibu Whiskey FestivalThe drink I drank when I attended Mr. Yamaoka's seminar at the time of ``Improved Foods'' was also made into a product.
This is a valuable bottle that uses Kawasaki grain from a closed distillery.
By the way, I applied for the lottery that was held at a later date, but as expected, I didn't win. .
11th cup: Double Fantasy Black Standard

This one has a hint of vanilla and a slightly fruity impression.
12th cup: J’sBar collaboration Williamson

This is a collaboration with J's Bar, a famous restaurant in Ikebukuro, and the label is in honor of the owner, Mr. Hasumura, who sadly passed away the other day.
Williamson means Laphroaig.
It has so many characteristics that the moment you drink it, you realize it's rough.
Gentle peat and iodine, with a nutty lingering finish.
13th cup: Milton Duff 2009 14 years
This one was selected by Asaya Shoten and Tofu in Chichibu.
It tastes just like the label, with a floral flavor reminiscent of flowers.
It was delicious, so I ordered it on the spot.
14th cup: Asaka Doppelbock
It had a good flavor and had the impression of roasted nuts.
It seems to go well with snacks such as nuts.
They are planning to release it in the future, and are currently considering the timing of kegging.
This is one that I definitely want to get when it's released.
15th cup: Asaka 2024
It had a plum feel and gave me a light impression.
I bought 2022 and 2023, but there aren't too many changes, so I think I'll skip 2024.
16th cup: Niigata Kameda Distillery Sakura Cask

Not only Niigata Kameda, but Sakura Cask itself has a taste that makes people choose, but this is also difficult. .
I feel a sakuramochi-like nuance.
17th glass: Niigata Kameda Distillery Sherry Cask (Palo Cortado)

It had a barley and berry sweetness, and I had the impression that the sweetness became quite strong towards the end.
Impressions of the event
As I was recovering from illness, I was quite drunk after drinking 17 drinks, so I left the venue with this. .
The venue is wide open and there are many stalls, so I really wanted to enjoy it even more. .
Still, I was able to drink what I wanted and I was able to order, so I think I was able to complete the minimum tasks.
Caution ①: It's hot outside. .
The booth is divided into indoor and outdoor areas.
The white tent in the image is an outdoor booth.
The air conditioning is working indoors, but of course the air conditioning is not working outdoors.
There were mainly food and drink booths set up outside, but it was quite hot that day, so I didn't feel like eating at this temperature. .
Concern #1: The venue is too large. .
Maybe it's a concern, or maybe it's just an unnecessary concern, but the venue was quite large.
Last year it was held at the Hakata International Exhibition Center & Conference Center, but it is said to be about 7 times the size of there.
It felt like the largest venue of any whiskey event I've ever attended.
The whiskey events I have attended so far are ``Tokyo Internal BarShow” was the largest, but it was bigger than that, and within the framework of an alcoholic event, “Niigata sake campI think the size of the venue was comparable to that of ”
However, it was too large to accommodate the number of stalls, and there were some exhibition booths and empty spaces, giving the impression that it was being overused.
Although it is a blessing for the participants to not be crowded, I think it will cost a certain amount of money to rent a venue of this size, so I am concerned about whether the event will pay for itself. .
Closing Thoughts
Whiskey Talk Fukuoka was a very nice event.
I regret that I was not feeling well, but I hope to be able to participate again next year.
