Have you applied for the lottery?

In order to obtain rare whiskey or limited edition items, you must win a lottery.

Lotteries are held at various whiskey events, official distilleries such as Suntory, department stores such as Bic Camera, Aeon, Yamaya, Isetan and Takashimaya, supermarkets, drug stores, Shinanoya, Rudder, etc.

In 2024, I counted exactly 140 entries for the lottery, and I would like to tell you how many of them I won and the bottles that won.

1st bottle: Whiskey Lovers Nagoya Sakurao IPA Cask

2nd bottle: Whiskey Lovers Nagoya Saburomaru Blended

There were a total of three products eligible for the lottery, one from Sakurao/Saburomaru and one from Akkeshi, but this one was not selected.

I think it was a good start to 2024 as I was elected on 2/3.

3rd: Tatsu Asaka label

This bottle was won in an official lottery held by Asaka Distillery.

This is a zodiac label released every year, and it is a zodiac label for 2024, the dragon.

By the way, in 2025, the lottery for the snake and snake labels has already been held, and I forgot to apply for this one, so I won by default. .

Distilled in 2019, bottled in 2023, and aged for 4 years in fresh bourbon barrels.

8th bottle: Chichibu Whiskey Festival 2024 Band Label Blended Scotch 1996 27 years

I didn't win any of the bottles that were drawn on the day of the event, but I did win quite a few of the event-limited bottles that were drawn at a later date.

There were also Glenrothes and Dornoch, but Glenrothes did not apply and Dornoch was not included in the lottery.

I actually won 6/7, so I think I have a pretty good chance of winning.

I won the Big Camera lottery held in March and was able to purchase my first Akkeshi Single Malt.

I plan to try it at a whiskey event and see when I can open it.

11th and 12th: Yamazaki/Hakushu Story of Distillery 2024

I won a W in the Bic Camera lottery held in June.

Up until now, the Bic Camera lottery was a win-or-win event once a year, but this year was the second time I won.

I was lucky to win two tickets in one lottery.

The bottle itself doesn't have a good reputation on the street, and I personally wasn't impressed when I sampled it. .

It's difficult to decide when to open the bottle, but I plan on opening it and drinking it someday.

13th: Whiskey Talk Fukuoka 2024 Niigata Kameda Distillery Newborn

The alcohol content is 61% cask strength.

I'm from Niigata and it's close to my hometown, so Niigata Kameda Distillery is my favorite distillery, and I try to buy anything related to Newborn when it's released.

14th: Whiskey Talk Fukuoka 2024 Secret Islay 2018

It's a secret Islay, but the contents are Ardbeg.

Distilled in 2018, bottled in 2024, aged for 5 years, the alcohol content is 54.9%.

It gives the impression of a clean Ardbeg with a salty, milky taste.

15th: Whiskey Talk Fukuoka 2024 Yoshida Denzai Distillery

It has an alcohol content of 55% and has been aged for one year.

16th: Whiskey Talk Fukuoka 2024 Tsunuki 2019

Distilled in 2019 and bottled in 2024, it has been aged for 5 or 6 years.

The barrel is a bourbon barrel, and the alcohol content is 58%.

There are 10 event-limited bottles in total, and we have applied for 6 of them.

Kanosuke and Chichibu lost, but 4/6 won, so I think the odds are pretty good.

I think the Japanese odds are quite high, but I think I was lucky that Tsunuki hit.

Whiskey Talk Fukuoka is my personal favorite event, so I would like to participate again next year.

As a side note, my favorite was Niigata Kameda, a 3rd year student, but he was eliminated in the lottery. .

However, after that, I was kindly given it to me and was able to obtain it without any problem.

Episode 18: Shin Saburomaru/Megami Tensei if… Karukozaka High School Alumni Association Memorial

This bottle was drawn by lottery at Wakatsuru Sake Brewery's official online shop Sake and ALC.

This is a collaboration bottle with Shin Megami Tensei.

Distilled in 2021 and bottled in 2024 with an alcohol content of 61%, it is a cask strength single malt.

I don't know the detailed specs, but the specs are close to Saburomaru V, and the cask strength is high, so I'm looking forward to it.

Closing Thoughts

As for the lottery results, I applied for 140 lots and got 18 actual draws, so the probability of winning was about 12.85%.

Although the probability of winning each lottery may be different, and some lots may not have the maximum number of participants, each lottery is counted as one lottery ticket.

By the way, in 2023, I applied for 160 lotteries, and out of 17, the probability of winning was about 10%, which may have been due to a little bit of luck, but I think the result could almost be called a margin of error.

In 2025, I will apply for a lottery to win a rare whiskey, and if I win, I will be able to introduce it again.
