[Tokyo, Asakusa] Asakusa Motsuyaki Nonki — Bin Beeru (Bottled Beer) + Otoshi + Appetizer + Four Skewers, ¥1,950 [Visited December 2024]

To empty my stomach, I walked a short distance to Kaminarimon and Sensoji Temple.

As expected, it was a super major tourist destination, so it was full of foreigners. .

I thought about visiting the shrine, but Nakamise Street, the approach to the shrine, was crowded, so I decided to just look at the exterior without going all the way to the main hall.

It turned out to be a surprisingly short walk, and I decided to visit a ramen restaurant that I was really interested in, but I wasn't sure if I would be able to eat ramen due to my stomach condition. .

I decided to change to standing soba.

You may think that if you are full, you don't need to eat, but after all, you want to finish off your meal with something. .

So, ``Monju Asakusa” I visited.

文殊 浅草店 (浅草(東武・都営・メトロ)/立ち食いそば)
★★★☆☆3.49 ■Budget (night): ~ ¥999

This is also a store I was interested in, and the store itself is located in Asakusa underground shopping center, which is said to be the oldest underground shopping mall in Japan.

There is an entrance to the underground shopping mall in front of Asakusa Station on the Tobu Skytree Line and Matsuya Asakusa, and you will find the store as soon as you get off here.

As it is the oldest in Japan, the store itself and the surrounding area had a very retro atmosphere.

The somewhat horror-like font on the store's signboard also matches the surrounding atmosphere.

『Manjushri' has its main store in Ryogoku, and has expanded from downtown areas such as Asakusa and Bakuroyokoyama Station, to Oyama, Narimasu, and Kawagoe along the Tobu Tojo Line.

Recently, the Otemachi store was opened as well.

This time I visited around 16:00 on a weekday.

The shop is a small shop with an open counter and seats about 5 people.

There were two customers ahead of us, but we were able to secure a space safely.

Shungiku Tempura Soba (Soba with Chrysanthemum Greens Tempura)

Purchase tickets using the ticket machine on the right side of the store.

Only cash was accepted at the ticket machine.

Safely ``Kakiage (500 yen)”, but next to it there is “Shungikuten (520 yen)”, so select this.

Because I love unparalleled shungiku,Shungikuten” If you see one, you have no choice but to order it.

『Soba or udon” and tell them verbally when handing over the meal ticket.

Naturally “Soba” was selected.

After handing over the food ticket, the rice bowl is served in about 2 to 3 minutes.

Soba Noodles

It's an open counter so you can see the cooking process.

As I was watching, I saw that soba had been boiled, soaked in water, and then passed through hot water once to warm it up.

Because of this process, I think the serving time is a little longer than at a normal standing soba restaurant.

Well, if you look at restaurants in general, it's quite fast. .

Perhaps because of this cooking process, it felt chewy and easy to slurp.

The flavor of the soba itself was only faintly fragrant.

Tsuyu (Dipping Broth)

The tsuyu is a type that has a strong sweetness of mirin.

I got the impression that the soup stock had a slight bonito scent.

Shungikuten

The bitter taste of shungiku is delicious.

Some shops only include the leaves of shrugiku, but this one also includes the stems.

The stems are well-cooked, and are not hard at all, with just the right texture.

Well, since it's fried, the overall texture is crunchy.

Impressions

Perhaps due to the retro atmosphere of the restaurant, the standing soba noodles were generally well-balanced and delicious.

I was particularly impressed by the firmness of the soba noodles, which probably came from the cooking process.

I don't think you can easily experience this firmness when eating standing soba noodles.

In that sense, apart from the retro atmosphere, I think this is one of the best tasting soba noodles out there.

There are several famous soba restaurants in Asakusa that don't require you to eat while standing, and there are a variety of other shops besides soba.

If you're here for sightseeing and choose stand-up soba from among the many restaurants, you'll probably be a fanatic, and I think it's a niche demand. .

Please visit when you want to eat something quick before heading home.
