I suddenly had to go to Niigata, where my parents live, for some business.
In the evening, I finish work a little early and head to Tokyo Station.
It takes about 2 hours to get to Niigata.
I'll have to finish some errands once I arrive in Niigata, so I'd like to finish dinner before arriving in Niigata.
All of the restaurants inside the station are crowded, and I don't think I'll be able to make it in time for the Shinkansen if I eat, so I decide to buy an ekiben before boarding the Shinkansen.
The average price for ekiben is around 1,500 yen, which is honestly quite high.
It's fine if it's seafood, but I don't want to pay this price to eat cold fried food.
The best solution at times like this is Kiyoken Shiumai Bento.
Personally, I remember the taste I had when I went on a business trip on the Shinkansen for the first time after becoming a member of society.
I remember that it used to be possible to eat for around 700 to 800 yen, but the wave of price increases has also come, and now it costs 950 yen.
I think it's still cheaper compared to ekiben.
By the way, there is also a fried rice bento box, but I have never tried this.
I usually take the Shinkansen in the afternoon or evening, so I've never seen it sold out. .
Even if you have a chance to ride early in the morning, it's probably too early and the item probably hasn't arrived yet.
When I looked into it, I found ``online shopIt seemed like it would be possible to purchase in-store pick-up or home delivery.
I don't know if I'll go this far. . When will I be able to eat it? .
Let's get back to the shumai bento.
The contents are shumai, fried chicken, pickled tuna, bamboo shoots, kamaboko, tamagoyaki, kelp, pickled ginger, and apricots.
The rice is shaped like a straw bag with a slit, sprinkled with sesame seeds, and a pickled plum sits in the center.
The Shinkansen has already left Tokyo and has passed Ueno, and there doesn't seem to be anyone boarding next to us, so let's eat some shumai bento.
With beer, of course.
Siumai
This station lunch? Start with the main shumai, which is also the name of the bento.
It contains 5 pieces, but I feel like it used to contain more.
Sorry if I misunderstood.
It comes with soy sauce and mustard, so you can add whatever you like.
I'm a fan of both.
Although it is cold, you can feel the flavor of the meat and it is delicious.
fried chicken
It's cold, but it's delicious too.
Although I have said that I don't want to eat fried food that is cold at the top, I personally think that fried chicken that is cold is also delicious.
If it's just one piece, it's fine if it's cold, but if it's a fried chicken set meal or a bento that includes 4 or 5 pieces, of course I prefer it piping hot.
Marinated tuna
It doesn't have the fishy smell that is typical of fish, and is delicious.
When the tuna is cooked, it gets a little dry, but thanks to the pickling, it stays moist.
Bamboo shoots
It's full of flavor and delicious.
I can't tell you how many times I wish this was sold in the prepared foods section of the supermarket. .
Kamaboko
It's neither good nor bad, just a normal kamaboko.
Tamagoyaki
It's neither good nor bad, it's just a normal tamagoyaki.
Kelp/red ginger
I think it's the place of pickles, but it does its job well as it resets the palate.
Anzu
It is the only red dessert.
It has a good sweetness and sourness.
I don't think I've ever eaten anzu other than in a shumai bento. .
I think this is a dessert, but it fits. . ?
I'm not sure if you can put Shiumai bento in an ekiben, but I think it's one of the cheapest bentos you can buy at Tokyo Station.
Since there are so many different types of food, it's satisfying as a meal, and best of all, it's great as a snack.
That being said, it's now 950 yen. .
If there is a price increase next, I think it will finally reach the 1,000 yen mark.
If that happens, it won't be much different from an ekiben that costs around 1,500 yen, and if you pay twice as much as 2,000 yen, you can get takeout from a famous restaurant in Gransta, so I think it will be a difficult price range.
But until the price goes up, I think I'll be eating shumai bento again.
Even if the price goes up, I might eat it less often, but I'll probably eat it again because it's a memorable taste.
