Visit and Queue Information
Visit date: Saturday, February 2026
Visiting time: 13:00
Queue: none
Crowd status: I get the impression that the store is about 10-20% full.
Seat: table seat
I made a reservation from Tabelog and visited with my wife.
The restaurant seemed pretty empty, probably because there were not many people eating hot pot from noon.
My impression is that the customer base is mostly Japanese.
Ordering and Payment
Payment methods: Cash, credit card, various electronic money, QR code
For some menu items, such as meat, a la carte dishes, and drinks, you must place a verbal order with the staff.
The clerk is Chinese, but he can also speak Japanese, so I don't think there is a language problem.
Menu
You can choose from 1 to 3 types of hot pot soup.
You pick up the ingredients yourself from the refrigerator, but like conveyor belt sushi, the price is determined by the color of the plate.
Sichuan hot pot
Today, my wife and I are visiting Ikebukuro to eat hot pot because we want to eat something spicy.
In Japan, just as sukiyaki has different seasonings and cooking methods depending on the region, such as Kanto style or Kansai style, hot pot styles also vary depending on the region.
Since China is much larger than Japan, there are not just two types of hotpot, but quite a number of types, and there are shops for each region and style.
And more and more stores are opening in Ikebukuro, Ueno, and Saitama's Nishikawaguchi area, which have become Chinatowns due to globalization, and it is now possible to enjoy local flavors even in Japan.
Among the wide variety of hotpots available, this time we chose Sichuan hotpot, which is characterized by its spiciness.
It's certainly spicy as you can see from the amount of chili peppers, but it's not just spicy, it's also delicious.
The other type of soup I choose is mushroom soup.
This has a strong mushroom flavor.
Sauce
Chinese restaurants often have a sauce section like this.
Take as many ingredients as you like and make your favorite sauce.
Locally, it seems to be common to eat it with sesame oil and salt, but I personally prefer a sauce with plenty of sesame sauce, garlic, and coriander.
Ingredients
I think I picked a lot of mushrooms, about 10 types in total.
I also order a fair amount of meat.
Personally, I think hot pot and Maratan (Spicy Numbing Soup) go well with something with a crunchy texture, and lamb and hormone-based meats go particularly well.
snow flower beer
For drinks, I ordered the Chinese Snow Flower Beer.
Shaoxing wine or baijiu are fine for hotpot and Chinese food, but personally, I prefer beer.
Many Chinese beers have a relatively light taste, but this one is a lager type and tastes like Japanese beer.
dessert
Sorry for half-eaten. .
The deep-fried mochi is sprinkled with brown sugar syrup and kinako, giving it the flavor you can imagine.
People all over the world love carbohydrates and oil.
Next was a jelly-like dessert called bing feng, which was slightly chewy and resembled warabi mochi.
As a Japanese person, I think it's easy to understand that warabi mochi is topped with nuts and raisins.
Impressions and Rating
The bill was 12,000 yen for two people.
At a hotpot restaurant, a light drink and meal will cost you about this amount, so it feels like a normal price.
If you want to keep it a little cheaper, there are course menus that include all-you-can-drink options, although the menu is limited.
The taste is just like hot pot.
It's delicious enough to satisfy your hotpot cravings, but I don't think it's particularly delicious among hotpots.
I have the impression that there are better restaurants out there, but it's not bad at all and the price is worth it.
I have a craving for hot pot on a regular basis, about once every few months, so I'd like to introduce it to you when I visit Ikebukuro or a real Chinese hot pot restaurant in Ueno again.
