Niigata Port Sado Kisen Terminal
Today will be held tomorrowSado Long Ride 2024I am heading to Niigata from Tokyo to participate in the event.

I boarded the first Shinkansen from Tokyo and arrived at Niigata Station in 2 hours.
After arriving at Niigata Station, you will immediately take a bus to Niigata Port (Sado Kisen Terminal).
We were scheduled to take the ferry to Ryotsu Port at 9:25, but we arrived at Niigata Port around 9:00. (If the ferry departs at 9:25, you can get there in time by taking the first Shinkansen from Tokyo.)
Initially, we had planned to eat something at Niigata Port before boarding the ship, but boarding the ferry had already started, so we decided to board without eating anything.
Sado Kisen's ferry has ``Okesamaru” and “Tokiwa MaruThere are two types, but this time it was Tokiwamaru.
Which ferry you take depends on the time of day.Ship listYou can check from .
Although Tokiwa Maru is a newer ship, having entered service in 2014, I don't think there is much of a difference between the two.
Once you board the ship and leave your bicycle bag, or rather, your road bike, let's have breakfast.
There is a snack corner inside the ferry where you can enjoy ramen, soba, udon, curry, alcohol, and snacks.
Iwanori soba
This time I chose “Iwanori soba (750 yen)”.
Tomorrow I will ride a 210km circuit around Sado on my road bike.
When running long distances, in order to get more carbohydrates into my body, I start eating a carb-up diet a few days in advance, which includes a moderate amount of fat and protein and a large amount of carbohydrates.
I chose soba because it contains almost only carbohydrates and has less fat than ramen.
You can also choose udon, and although udon may be better in terms of carbohydrate content and digestion, there isn't much of a difference, so I chose soba, which is my preference.
I would really like to have a drink, but I have plans to ride a road bike after this, and I'm not drinking for a week leading up to tomorrow, so I held back. .
Soba Noodles
The soba noodles themselves are of the shredded type.
There are thick ones and thin ones, so it feels like slurping rather than slipping, so it is a little difficult to slurp.
The texture was chewy, and the soba flavor was modest.
Tsuyu (Dipping Broth)
It had a strong flavor and had a strong mirin sweetness.
The soup stock taste was modest.
Rock seaweed
First of all, you will be surprised at how much rock glue is included.
The seaweed adds the flavor of the sea and the dashi stock to the soup.
It also adds a crunchy texture, so Iwanori is a perfect topping for soba noodles.
Impressions
If someone told me that I just put rock seaweed on soba noodles, I wouldn't be able to argue with them. .
By adding the sea feel and flavor of rock seaweed to the soup stock, the quality of the soba will rival not only stand-up soba but also other soba restaurants around the area.
I was surprised to be able to eat soba of such high quality on the ferry.
The quality of Sado's rock seaweed may be too high.
It turned out to be a surprisingly good breakfast.
After the meal, I got a good night's sleep in the 1st class passenger seat I had booked, as I had been traveling since early in the morning, and in no time at all I had arrived at Sado.
I ate a lot of different things after arriving in Sado, so I'll be introducing them in the future!
