Shungiku Tempura Soba (Soba with Chrysanthemum Greens Tempura)

This time, “Shungikuten soba (570 yen)” was selected.

I love shungiku, so if shungiku tempura is on the menu, I'll almost certainly order it.

Shungikuten is also one of Nittamai's specialties.

After handing over the food ticket, the meal was served within 1-2 minutes.

It's an overwhelming visual.

Let's get it then.

Shungiku tempura may be sold out depending on availability or while it is being cooked.

Tsuyu (Dipping Broth)

The soup has a strong taste of bonito stock and kaeshi.

Oil comes out from the shungiku tempura's coating, giving it a rich flavor.

I'm glad that seaweed is the default topping.

Soba Noodles

Soba noodles are thin and easy to slurp.

The texture is soft and chewy, and the soba flavor is subtle.

Shungikuten

Now let's move on to the main dish, Shungikuten.

First of all, it is characteristic that it is so huge that it protrudes from the container. .

The biggest feature of this shungiku tempura is that it is shaped like a bouquet and is fried without chopping the shungiku.

There are some restaurants that serve it in a bouquet shape, but in general, shungiku is chopped and served in a round shape like kakiage.

[Tokyo/Ikebukuro] SOBA DINING Rinya Ikebukuro store Shungikuten soba 600 yen [Visited in February 2025]

It may be limited to this time, but as you can see from the appearance, there is a lot of clothing. .

There are too many clothes. .

Because of this, shungiku is supposed to be a vegetable with a relatively strong taste and aroma, but when I ate it, I couldn't taste the taste or aroma of shungiku, and it almost tasted like batter. .

Or rather, it tastes like oil. .

The batter was absorbing more and more of the soup, and soon after I started eating, I was left without any soup.

As you can see from the photo of the soup earlier, when you suck the soup, the shungiku tempura crumbles and becomes tempura-like. .

It looks like there are a few garland chrysanthemums in the tempura, but even in this state, it tastes like oil, so I couldn't feel the slightest hint of garland chrysanthemum. .

Personally, I'm a fan of saving delicious food until last. .

The correct answer was to eat this shungiku tempura early rather than dipping it in the soup. .

Impressions

Honestly, the shungiku tempura soba at Nittamai was a bit strange. .

This is overwhelmingly a Shungikuten problem. .

I think there may be a problem with the way I eat. .

I guess it depends on the person doing the frying, but I think that if you make it into a bouquet shape, there will be more batter than if it were round.

I think something like this will happen if there is a lot of clothing. .

I see, I understand why there are so few shops that offer it in bouquets. .

If I were asked if I would eat it next time, I think I would order something else from the menu instead of Shungikuten, and it's hard to recommend because it's hard to eat.

However, I think shungikuten is one of Nittamai's specialties. .

My advice for those who really want to try it is to eat the shungikuten as soon as possible, or rather, to finish it first.

Overall: ★★⯪☆☆ (2.5)
Taste: ★★⯪☆☆ (2.5)
Cost performance: ★★★☆ (3.0)
Revisit: ★★☆⯪☆ (2.5)
